Job Description

 

Job Summary:
 

The Actuarial Quantitative Consultant II job is responsible for performing reserve estimates, reporting financial results, and recording reserves utilizing accepted actuarial and accounting standards, methodologies and knowledge gained through on the job training. This role works closely with management and key business partners to execute appropriate reserving strategies of low to moderately complex lines of business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses best practices, with limited coaching, to perform basic to moderately complex reserve analysis, using traditional actuarial and financial techniques, including proper documentation and evaluation, to provide insights and meet business needs
  • Prepares financial statements on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Communicates analysis results to management and non-technical users, making recommendations and providing support for assumptions and methodologies
  • Records reserves on a monthly basis
  • Manages, and/or contributes on projects that are of moderate complexity and are of moderate scale using accepted project management standards, with limited guidance
  • Identifies and develops efficiencies in existing processes
  • With limited coaching, reviews and ensures quality of data used to perform actuarial and financial services within multiple tools/applications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in related field of study such as finance, math/applied math, or accounting 
  • 2-4 years of financial or reserving analysis experience 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • None required

 

Functional Skills

  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.  Working knowledge of Power Point and Word.  Experience using Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Knowledge in the use and ability to learn a wide variety of tools, data sources and computer applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner, with limited guidance
  • Strong work ethic, including ability to follow-up, focus on details and take initiative 
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to work effectively with employees both internal and external to the reserving function
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment, in both in-person and remote settings
  • Advanced time management skills and organization skills with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business
     

 

Compensation Data

 

Compensation range for this position is $56,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

 

 

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
