Description

This position is responsible for executing the strategy and implementation of Import/Export activities to enhance margin as it relates to international transportation and logistics, as well as RFP support to determine pricing for global deployments of AV equipment.

 

  • Author SOPs and policy statements/updates pertaining to Import/Export operations.
  • Classify AVI-SPL international freight with correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes.
  • Source and book multiple modes of transportation as appropriate for project or lane specific business needs.
  • Responsible for all customs documentation requirements (Commercial Invoices, Shipper Letter of Instructions, POAs, Waybills, Bill of Ladings, etc.)
  • Responsible to track import/exports origin to destination
  • Responsible for auditing import/export vendor invoices and ensuring correct coding for AP.
  • Track budget and timelines for implementation of global freight forwarding programs.
  • Invest in the relationships with the company’s freight forwarding partners and assist with onboarding new forwarders.
  • Lead RFPs for project or lane specific programs.
  • Engage multiple forwarders to encourage competitive pricing for import/export shipments and advise offices both domestically and abroad on vendor selection, transportation mode, and customs related matters.
  • Track and maintain acceptable levels DIFOT of (Delivered In Full On Time) and internal customer service metrics.
  • Advise Warehouse Management in all levels of the organization on packaging and outbound international shipping standards/protocols.

 

 

· Work with Procurement to optimize inbound shipments from vendors and negotiate price breaks on equipment due to optimized shipments (consolidations to reduce or eliminate LCL and air freight shipping)

· Provide Sales team with accurate estimates for projects involving complex supply chain challenges.

· Recommend and document changes and follow up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented.

· Create and provide reports as needed.

· Other duties assigned as needed.

Skills and Abilities

 

· Ability to pivot efficiently between strategic initiatives and tactical execution as business needs require.

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams across multiple functional areas in a matrixed environment.

· Must have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally.

· Excellent data entry and organizational skills

· Intermediate PC skills and working knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word)

· Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills.

· Multilingual a plus

 

Education and/or Experience

 

· Licensed Customs Broker, US

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in global freight forwarding operations, all modes (ocean/air/intermodal) – Familiar with HTS codes and country specific import/export requirements including all documentation.

· Minimum 1-2 years of experience with Inventory Management process and systems

· Demonstrated working experience using data and analytics to formulate countermeasures.

· Supervisory experience a plus
