Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IT Backup Analyst to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the integrity, availability, and recoverability of our organization's critical data through effective backup and recovery solutions, along with patch management of workstations and servers.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in backup technologies, along with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. This position can be remote or onsite in our American Fork, Utah or Gainesville, Florida corporate office.  

About Our Perks, Compensation, & Benefits

  • $60,000 - $70,000  per year with quarterly bonuses based on performance with total compensation at a range of approximately $80,000 - $90,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and systems against loss or corruption.
  • Configure and maintain backup software and hardware infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor backup operations to verify completion, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot backup failures and performance issues, promptly identifying and resolving root causes.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, administrators, network engineers, and other IT stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of backup solutions with existing infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular audits and tests of backup systems to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during data restoration efforts, minimizing downtime and data loss in the event of an incident.
  • Document backup procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and training.
  • Ensuring device compliance in Windows (Intune), and macOS (Addigy) for all company owned devices.
  • Stay current of emerging technologies and best practices in backup and recovery, recommending enhancements to the backup infrastructure as needed.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and exercises to ensure the organization's ability to recover data and resume operations in the event of a disaster.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience working as a backup analyst, backup administrator, or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience with management and testing of patching desktops/laptops and servers.
  • Strong understanding of backup technologies and methodologies, including disk-based, and cloud-based solutions, along with testing of backups on a regular schedule.
  • Proficiency in deploying and managing backup software such as Datto Siris, Synology, AWS, Azure Backup, and/or similar platforms.
  • Experience with backup hardware infrastructure, including disk arrays, and deduplication appliances.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix, macOS) and networking concepts, patching and software deployment tools such as Intune, Addigy, Datto RMM, or other similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as Datto Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR), Windows Server 2016 Azure Administrator (MCSA), or similar credentials are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
