Position Summary
Gravitas is seeking a part-time organic chemistry teacher to further develop and then implement its science program. This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the country's most prestigious Christian academic institutions as a member of a talented faculty. All candidates should have demonstrable Christian commitment and an educational philosophy that is consistent with The Stony Brook School's mission statement.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop the yearlong curriculum for the Introduction to Organic Chemistry course.
- Virtually teach the Introduction to Organic Chemistry class, serving both Gravitas and campus SBS students.
- Create and deliver asynchronous lessons and assessments
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous tutoring support.
- Grade assessments promptly and communicate effectively with students, families, and Gravitas administrators.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Education, or a related field (Master's degree strongly preferred).
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience, including online instruction
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet grading deadlines
- High energy, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with teenagers in the online environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond quickly to all communications
- Commitment to serving in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes Christian scholarship and character formation
- High proficiency with technology, including learning management systems, online tools like Formative and Quizlet .
- Ability to create screencasts and simple videos
- Reliable high-speed internet access
- Experience working collaboratively with a team of teachers and openness to providing and receiving feedback in a culture of transparency
- Ability to interact professionally with parents and school community members
- Cultural competency and ability to connect with and care for our students from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and lifelong learning
- Maturity and stability sufficient for a demanding position
