    Job Description

    The Director of Faculty Development is responsible for planning, managing, and administering professional and faculty development functions for the universities that are part of the American InterContinental University System (AIUS).

    This person will be responsible for all aspects of professional development and training initiatives for faculty including but not limited to orienting faculty on effective instructional methods and techniques for online, blended, and face to face delivery; the development, delivery, and evaluation of faculty orientation and in-services; the management and documentation of faculty development activities; and collaborating on standards for faculty performance in the classroom.

    The Director works closely with the faculty supervisors, academic program chairs/deans and all instructional faculty members in order to maintain exceptional quality in course delivery, student learning, and student retention.  The Director drives excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning across the university system.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop, maintain and facilitate/deliver continuing education, regular

    faculty in-services on topics related to the techniques and methods for quality online, blended and face to face instruction.

    • Lead faculty development committees to improve faculty orientation and

    professional development initiatives.

    • Plan, manage, and evaluate faculty professional development activities.
    • Develop and maintain faculty guides in the form of job aids  that serve as an

    instructor-friendly resources.

    • Train new faculty in online delivery through orientations and collaboration

    with faculty managersto provide mentorship and continuing support  new and current  faculty.

    • Train all faculty on best practices for online, blended and face to face

    learning environments.

    • Drive exceptional quality in course delivery, student learning and student

    retention through working closely with faculty supervisors, academic program chairs/deans and all instructional faculty and staff members.

    • Develop continuing education, faculty orientation and fprofessional

    development content and work closely with other departmental teams in their implementation and use.  The Director will manage all faculty learning programs for the university system.

    • Act as liaison to faculty and academic affairs staff, web development team,

    course development team to coordinate quality improvement of course content, delivery and implementation of resulting modifications.

    • Ensure faculty are trained on regulatory requirements and classroom changes.
    • Support  IT, the web development and curriculam teams to improve, test, and

    implement solutions for LMS, adaptive technology, and mobile apps (as applicable); Recommend improvements based on student and faculty experience, online and blended pedagogy, instructional best practices, and curriculum needs.  Create trainings and resources to launch new tools and inititiaves.

    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for the department.
    • Other Duties as Assigned or Requested
    • Special projects and initiatives as assigned.
    • Support or lead (non-faculty) staff training initiatives as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience (minimum)

    • Master’s degree
    • Proficiency with a variety of training development software and tools
    • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration

    which includes:

    • Training, development and evaluation of college level instructors, in face to

    face and/or online learning environments and delivery methods

    • Principles, techniques, and methods of instruction; use of visual aids;

    learning theory, processes and assessment; curriculum/course development and evaluation.

    • A solid background in managing and evaluating instructors
    • Delivering virtual and in-person trainings
    • Proficiency with a variety of training development software and tools
    • Education & Experience (preferred)
    • Terminal degree
    • Experience managing a team of direct reports in a remote work environment
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
    • Solid organizational, project management and leadership skill sets
    • Excellent interpersonal , verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships
    • Organizational, analytical and time management skills
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, virtual communication and

    collaboration tools, and training software
