Lead Java Engineer (Remote, US or South America Based)

As a Lead Java Engineer, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of robust enterprise Java solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, QA specialists, and product managers, to implement high-quality features that enhance database DevOps and CI/CD processes. This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, influence technical architecture, and contribute to scalable, high-impact software products. You will participate in agile development cycles, conduct code reviews, and collaborate on testing strategies to ensure system reliability and performance. The position provides exposure to modern cloud environments, CI/CD tools, and cutting-edge development frameworks while allowing you to shape solutions that drive efficiency and innovation across teams.

Accountabilities:

· Lead the delivery of new capabilities for enterprise Java products within an agile development team. · Contribute to technical design reviews and make architectural decisions independently. · Mentor and collaborate with junior and senior engineers through peer programming and code reviews. · Estimate story sizes for sprint planning and actively participate in agile ceremonies, including retrospectives and demos. · Build Unit, Integration, and Cucumber tests following a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach. · Collaborate with QA teams to identify and resolve issues from automated and manual testing. · Continuously improve internal infrastructure, processes, and best practices. · 8+ years of professional Java development experience. · Proven experience as a Lead Engineer with the ability to architect, design, and deliver complex solutions. · Deep understanding of Core Java and object-oriented design principles. · Hands-on experience with JDBC-level database operations and RESTful Web Services/APIs. · Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and related Java frameworks. · Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure). · Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments. · Strong collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills. · Remote-first culture with opportunities for in-person company-wide gatherings. · Home office allowance for remote employees. · Meaningful equity participation. · Comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits (country-dependent). · Generous paid time off and paid holidays. · 401k or local retirement plan contributions. · Growth opportunities and career advancement within the company. · Collaborative, transparent, and meritocratic work environment with focus on learning and innovation.
