Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems in EMEA. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and operation of Python-based solutions that drive the automation of SaaS user management and integration of data sources across the organization. You will collaborate with multiple engineering and business teams, providing technical leadership, code reviews, and guidance on engineering best practices. The position requires a deep understanding of Python, open-source ETL tools, and scalable software architectures. You will help enable data-driven decisions by ensuring seamless integration of internal and external data sources into the data mesh. Success in this role depends on your ability to combine technical excellence with mentorship, operational ownership, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is a fully remote position within the EMEA region, with opportunities to travel internationally twice a year for team events and strategy alignment.

Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain Python-based engineering solutions for automation and integration across the application portfolio.
• Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs, code reviews, and problem-solving for complex software challenges.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development guidance to junior engineers as appropriate.
• Promote and evangelize engineering and organizational best practices across teams.
• Integrate internal and external data sources into the data mesh using open-source ETL tools to enable data-driven decisions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes, code quality, and system performance.
• Strong experience in Python software development with proven ability to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent alternative path demonstrating technical expertise.
• Track record of exceeding expectations and delivering impactful results in software projects.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Result-oriented mindset with personal drive to meet commitments and deadlines.
• Ability to work in a distributed team environment, collaborating across multiple countries and time zones.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally twice per year for company events.
• Nice-to-have: performance engineering, security experience, and familiarity with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
