We are looking for a dynamic Principal System Administrator to join our team. The Principal System Administrator will perform administration functions at the Census Bureau. This role is part of a system administration team responsible for the installation, configuration and maintainance of products including Subversion, Jenkins, Jira, confluence, Tomcat, etc. on Linux and windows servers. The System Administrator will design and implement archival and maintenance plans for application platforms to improve performance and will troubleshoot issues related to access, performance, deployments and automation builds. Requirements Bachelor's Degree 10 years of relevant IT experience Problem solving capability Willingness to learn new skills and technologies A great team player with good inter-personal skills and ability to relate to others Better understanding of the Linux operating system (hardware, kernel, shell) Solid experience in administering, configuring and using Linux Server operating system Experience in Apache HTTP and Tomcat web application server running under Linux Server Security related skills (SSL Certificates, Active Directory authorization or authentication, etc.) Experience in scheduling jobs and administrative task using crontab Creating shell scripts with Bourne shell[sh] and Bourne Again shell[bash] Experience in installation and configuration of Java JDK and JRE Setup and configure of SSH Experience in NFS, FTP and DNS Experience managing files and directories (ownership, ACL, and other permissions) Server migrations and management experience (tar, zip, sftp, scp, etc.) Better understanding of account management Network management knowledge System logging experience Experience in other applications (Jenkins, Subversion, Jira, confluence, etc) is a plus Desired Skills Background in SRE practices: observability, monitoring, reliability engineering Experience in high-velocity startup or product engineering environments Track record of building MVPs and proofs-of-concept under resource constraints Ability to context-switch across multiple projects and technical domains Benefits CATHEXIS offers competitive compensation packages to all eligible employees. The annual salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000. Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline.
