Senior Legal Counsel

The Senior Legal Counsel will advise on global legal, regulatory, and commercial matters supporting the growth and compliance of NEAR Intents. This role requires a lawyer who can bridge Web3 innovation and traditional regulatory frameworks, with a particular focus on US, EU, and Gibraltar regimes. You’ll work closely with leadership, product, and compliance teams to ensure our products and operations align with evolving digital asset laws while enabling responsible global expansion. About the Team: The Defuse team at Near are the front‑line defenders, dedicated to protecting the Near ecosystem from fraud, abuse, and security threats. Defuse combines cutting‑edge blockchain analytics, machine‑learning risk models, and real‑time monitoring to identify suspicious activity before it can impact users or developers. You will Take ownership of AML/KYC duties and escalate issues Be meticulous at record-keeping Assist in contract management process and risk management & mitigation Assist in contract drafting and review as needed Assist with legal department operations and GC support You have Had legal or compliance training and/or experience of working within a law firm or legal department. Experience with KYC/AML regulations and processes. Ability to take ownership of processes, identify red flags and ability to offer new ideas. Familiarity with various contracts and ability to thoroughly review simple contracts and provide feedback/edits. A highly organized and self-starter personality. Quick learner and adaptable. Willing to travel internationally for team offsites and/or conferences. Able to work with a global remote team and can be flexible to attend meetings to accommodate the global team.
