Hours: Full-time Reports to: Head of Strategy & Partnerships, Angola Job Purpose: The Senior Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships Manager will lead the strategic growth of private funding in Angola, ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of the programme. About HALO:

The HALO Trust’s mission is to protect lives and restore the livelihoods of those affected by conflict. For over 35 years HALO has been saving lives and helping conflict affected countries recover from conflict, by making their land safe. When conflict ends, land is often littered with landmines and other dangerous explosives. Families live in fear and poverty. They are unable to plant crops or graze cattle and day-to-day activities like getting to school and fetching water are fraught with risk. HALO recruits and trains men and women to clear landmines in their own communities, take back control of their own livelihoods and rebuild their communities. HALO is now one of the leading humanitarian mine clearance organisations globally with programmes in 30 countries and more than 10,000 staff, most of whom are local employees. HALO has been working in Angola since 1994. Today we have over 1,200 staff spread across five different locations, making HALO Angola one of our largest programmes. From 1994 to 2025 we have destroyed over 123,000 landmines in Angola. Entire provinces, including Huambo and Benguela, are now free from the impact of mines. HALO's work in Angola has cleared and released back to the people the equivalent of almost 6,000 football pitches of land that can be used for growing crops, building schools and developing the country. Key to Angola's development is the Lobito Corridor, a strategically important railway line and infrastructure zone running through the heart of Angola. Mine clearance along the railway is removing barriers to accessing the corridor, enabling investment in road and rail infrastructure.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS BASED ONSITE IN ANGOLA, AND CANNOT BE CONDUCTED REMOTELY*About the role:

HALO’s philanthropy programme has undergone a major transformation in the past five years, with total income from private donors (including US donors) increasing from £4 million to £44 million in 2023/4. UK and European contributions more than doubled, from £3.6m to £8.9m, driven by six- and seven-figure partnerships with philanthropists, corporates, and foundations. This success is rooted in HALO’s influential network of trustees and ambassadors, and strong alignment with industries such as extractives, agribusiness, and global finance. Our 12-person Global Philanthropy Team, based primarily in the UK, leads donor engagement across Europe and increasingly international markets such as the Middle East. A separate US team oversees philanthropy strategy and implementation in the United States. To build on this momentum and counter declining government aid, HALO is investing in senior fundraisers in key regions to cultivate high-value networks, develop strategic partnerships, and diversify our income portfolio. These roles will work closely with country programmes and the global philanthropy team to ensure coordinated, high-impact fundraising. HALO Angola exemplifies this opportunity. As one of our largest programmes—with 1,200 staff and $16 million in annual revenue, including $6 million from private donors—it has already secured multiple multi-year corporate partnerships and has a strong prospect pipeline. The Lobito Corridor presents further potential to engage key investors and deepen private sector support. This is an exciting moment for a senior fundraiser with experience in corporate partnerships to join HALO’s high-performing team and shape the next phase of philanthropic growth. The initial appointment is for 36 months, with potential for extension based on proof of concept. Job Responsibilities Spearhead an ambitious strategy to grow income from private partners and prospects in Angola, in close collaboration with the Director of Global Philanthropy and Global Head of Corporate Partnerships, as well as HALO Angola’s Programme Manager and Head of Donor Relations. Build and maintain strong relationships with key donors and identified prospects, cultivating trust and long-term engagement. Proactively identify, build, and nurture a portfolio of high-value partners (including private foundations, trusts, high-net-worth individuals, and corporations) with the capacity to contribute multi-year six- and seven-figure gifts. Collaborate with HALO’s Global Philanthropy team to leverage existing networks and ensure seamless coordination in relationship management across regions. Work with the HALO Angola team to develop high-quality proposals and donor reports, delivered to tight deadlines. Monitor and analyse philanthropic trends to ensure HALO’s value proposition remains competitive, relevant, and inspiring. Maintain accurate CRM records to support global tracking, reporting, and impact measurement across HALO’s philanthropic portfolio. Work closely with Philanthropy and Partnerships (Government funding) colleagues in the UK, Europe, Middle East and overseas programmes as part of a distributed team to provide support to global fundraising efforts. Collaborate with the US Philanthropy team, Board of Directors, and Development Committee to ensure strategic alignment and execution of donor engagement activities throughout the year, including events, meetings, field visits, communications, and marketing initiatives.

The post holder’s skills and experience will include the following:

Experience of strategic account management as part of a geographically dispersed account team. An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with business leaders, philanthropists, government representatives, and colleagues in different cultural environments. Tenacious, self-starting, and able to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial context. Fluency in English. Fluency in Portuguese desirable. (these are international benefits, and benefits for national staff are in line with local labour laws) Local overseas allowance of $350 monthly Private medical insurance Shared accommodation in a rented HALO apartment, provided at nil cost 49 days of annual leave (weekend inclusive, rising to 56 days after 2yrs of service) Contributory retirement plan Three economy return flights to the member’s official home address (or an alternative location up to an equivalent cost) Comprehensive insurance package: life assurance and emergency medical insurance, including evacuation and repatriation. Location and Working Pattern The role will be based in Luanda, where HALO Angola has its main office. This is a full-time role, with HALO operating a 40-hour working week (Monday to Friday 0700 to 1600). The role requires flexibility to attend meetings and events outside of these hours. We are open to exploring working arrangements that meet the needs of employees whilst ensuring delivery against the role’s objectives and our strategic goals.
