Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack, Functional) Full-time Remote (US/NY Overlap Required) We are an early-stage company building a comprehensive online community platform from first principles. We are looking for a highly autonomous Senior Software Engineer to be a foundational member of our engineering team, contributing significantly to product direction and building scalable systems. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be a generalist responsible for the entire feature lifecycle, from scoping and architecture to production deployment and scaling. You will primarily work with TypeScript and functional programming patterns to create high-quality, maintainable code.

What you'll do:

• Work closely with the leadership and product teams to scope and prioritize new features, directly influencing the product roadmap.
• Write modular, maintainable, and thoughtful code with a strong emphasis on TypeScript and functional programming patterns.
• Create technical rails and guardrails to enable AI coding agents to robustly make changes and develop new features, pushing the boundaries of engineering efficiency.
• Monitor and maintain our production environment, working with users to quickly identify and resolve bugs.
• Take full ownership of various features across the full stack, from database interactions and API design to responsive front-end components.
• Optimize API server infrastructure and database queries to ensure high performance and accommodate rapid usage growth.
• This role demands a strong technical foundation, expertise in modern JavaScript, and an autonomous, product-driven mindset suitable for an early-stage startup.

3+ years of experience in software engineering, specifically with a strong background in TypeScript and functional programming.

• Proven track record of building scalable systems with a strong product sense.
• Comfort working autonomously in an early-stage startup environment.

Familiarity with our core tech stack: TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

Bonus points for:

• Experience with React Native.
• A strong lean towards backend infrastructure scaling.
• Prior experience founding a company.

Work Policy:

• This is a fully remote position, but candidates must be able to overlap at least five hours with New York (ET) time zone working hours.
