This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Manager in the United States. This role offers an opportunity to lead a high-performing software engineering team while driving the architecture and delivery of cloud and on-premise systems. You will translate operational goals into actionable technical plans, set engineering standards, and oversee code quality and project execution. This hands-on leadership position combines team mentoring with active participation in design, coding, and review processes. You will collaborate closely with product owners, implementation specialists, and cross-functional teams to ensure predictable delivery, scalable architecture, and measurable outcomes. The position emphasizes both technical excellence and fostering an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
· Lead and develop the engineering team: set goals, conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and coordinate compensation. · Mentor engineers, provide coaching and structured feedback, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning and ownership. · Plan headcount, support recruitment, onboard new team members, and integrate vendor support. · Create and manage the engineering budget, optimizing tool usage, cloud spend, licenses, and contracts. · Author architecture documents, design APIs, data models, and service boundaries; enforce coding standards, CI/CD quality, and security practices. · Plan and drive multi-sprint initiatives, manage trade-offs, risks, scope, and timelines. · Refine requirements, prioritize backlogs, and ensure predictable, on-time delivery. · Define and maintain software lifecycle practices, testing strategies, SLIs/SLOs, and observability metrics. · Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, and cross-functional coordination with IT, operations, and compliance teams. · 7+ years of professional software development experience. · 2+ years of direct people management, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and accountability for delivery and quality. · Strong experience architecting and delivering production systems at scale in cloud and on-prem environments. · Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), Python, API design (REST/OpenAPI), and databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL, time-series databases). · Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). · Knowledge of application security, secrets management, and least-access principles. · Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog), automated testing (Cypress, Artillery), and front-end frameworks (ReactJS/AngularJS). · Strong communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. · Desired: Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), event streaming (Kafka), infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible), reverse proxying (Nginx), data center protocols (MQTT, SNMP, Modbus, BACnet), and experience with LLM coding tools. · Competitive compensation with salary based on skills, experience, and location. · Paid time off and paid holidays. · Full medical, dental, and vision coverage. · 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions. · Opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud and on-prem systems supporting AI adoption and large-scale infrastructure. · Professional growth, mentoring, and exposure to next-generation digital infrastructure. · Inclusive, collaborative, and innovative team environment.
