Staff Accountant

This is a remote position. Work Schedule Mon–Fri, 40 hours a week Flexible hours with at least some overlap between 8-12 pm PST

Responsibilities Perform sophisticated bank reconciliations and transaction analysis, going beyond simple data entry to understand the story behind each transaction Analyze complex financial transactions such as merchant services deposits, identifying revenue components, fees, and proper accounting treatment Proactively communicate with clients and service representatives to obtain necessary supporting documentation and clarify transaction details Ensure all accounting entries properly reflect balance sheet impacts and maintain financial statement accuracy Apply accrual accounting principles across diverse client engagements spanning multiple industries and countries Collaborate seamlessly within the company’s modern technology ecosystem including Slack, Dropbox, and other integrated cloud-based applications Work effectively with team members across different time zones and geographic locations, contributing to a truly global operation

Requirements Strong foundation in balance sheet accounting and comprehensive understanding of accrual accounting principles Analytical mindset that goes beyond basic data entry - ability to ask critical questions about transaction components and identify discrepancies Proven experience with bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and month-end closing processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional client interaction and seamless internal collaboration Proficiency with accounting software and cloud-based collaboration tools, with adaptability to learn new systems quickly Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies Self-motivated professional who thrives in a performance-based environment and can work independently while being part of an integrated team structure Comfort working in a distributed, remote team environment across multiple time zones
