
We are seeking a hands-on, proactive, and experienced Director of Claims to lead Fairmatic’s claims operations. This leader will be responsible for overseeing the claims portfolio, managing key external partnerships, and designing innovative strategies that redefine the customer experience in commercial auto claims. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Provide strategic direction for Fairmatic’s claims operations, aligning with broader business objectives. Oversee and continuously improve relationships with TPAs, ensuring claims handling meets performance, quality, and customer experience standards. Manage strategic carrier partnerships to drive alignment, operational excellence, and innovation in claims practices. Partner with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to design, implement, and refine technology-enabled claims processes that improve efficiency and customer outcomes. Define and monitor KPIs to measure claims performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement. Stay ahead of regulatory, legal, and industry developments, ensuring Fairmatic’s practices remain compliant and competitive. Serve as a subject matter expert within the organization on claims practices, carrier dynamics, and TPA optimization. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required and insurance designations preferred. 10+ years of experience of claims handling and management (auto required; commercial auto strongly preferred). At least 5 years of experience overseeing internal and external claims operations (TPAs, carriers, or vendors) with measurable impact on performance. Demonstrated track record of leveraging data and technology to improve claims outcomes and operational efficiency. Strong knowledge of insurance coverages, claims processes, and regulatory requirements. Experience within insurtech, technology-forward insurance carriers, or start-ups is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies Strategic leader with the ability to translate business goals into actionable claims initiatives. Strong relationship management skills with carriers, TPAs, and external partners. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, issues, and opportunities from claims data. Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across product, technology, and business teams. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
