Overview

The Amtrust Claims Workers’ Compensation and Managed Care Analytics team is looking for a Claims Data & Analytics Lead who will be responsible for supporting the Claims organization by providing analytics and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness, as well as communicating insights derived from claims data to the actuarial and underwriting organizations to enhance risk selection and pricing. The right candidate will bring a balance of analytical, data strategy, execution, and communication skills to the table.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, leads, and delivers analytical projects with limited guidance and supervision, related to improving claims operational performance or providing Actuarial/Underwriting with insights on the health of the book of business with a focus on improving profitability.
  • Establishes themselves as a thought leader and trusted subject matter expert. Educates others in the organization on use of, and insights gained from, Workers’ Compensation and Medical Data. May mentor junior staff.
  • Drives the creation of a robust data foundation for Workers’ Compensation and Managed Care, by becoming an expert in both internal and external data sources.
  • Prepares deliverables for, and collaborates with, senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Data Science or a quantitative Social Science. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years analytical experience in a P&C Insurer, Health Insurance Company, or Healthcare organization.
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong track record of using analytics to influence business decisions and drive organizational change.
  • Adept at analyzing large and ambiguous data sets with an ability to spot trends and present business insights.
  • Knowledge of standard medical coding such as CPT, HCPCS, ICD, NDC codes, etc.
  • Proficient with analytical and statistical techniques regularly used in conjunction with medical data. Background in Health Economics/Outcomes research, Risk Adjustment Analytics, or Provider Quality scoring desirable.
  • Familiarity with Medicare reimbursement methodology (RBRVS).
  • Experience with MS Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience writing advanced SQL queries
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or a similar data visualization tool.
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical programming language such as R, SAS, Python, SPSS, or Stata.
  • Willingness to learn new software as the need arises.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across business units
