Job Summary

Artemis is seeking a full-time Communications Associate with a deep understanding of digital content, communication, writing and consulting best practices. The Communications Associate will be responsible for developing a wide variety of digital content for a federal client. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with writing and editing products including, but not limited to, social media, infographics, fact sheets, videos, story maps and more.

The Communications Associate role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience in management consulting and business development pursuits. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Translate complex scientific messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Collect, interpret and synthesize content into plain language upon which audiences can quickly act.
  • Create story-driven narratives that form the foundation of digital outreach campaigns.
  • Recommend creative concept and new approaches for communication activities that incorporate leading best practices and methodologies.
  • Ensure content conveys critical information and reflects key messaging in a standardized and consistent tone and voice.
  • Review document for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Ensure all products align with client style guides and federal plain language standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a strategic role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Proven experience leading digital content communications and outreach campaigns.
  • Experience in digital content creation and developing digital communications products such as videos, infographics, story maps and more.
  • Demonstrated experience in articulating, synthesizing and interpreting research findings to a variety of audiences such as managers, non-governmental organizations, research clients, policy makers and the public.
  • Experience with wildland fire and wildland fire science preferred.
  • Expertise in communicating research results to a general audience in print and electronic media.
  • Ability to translate scientific publications and other technical information into written materials that are concise, yet thorough.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry-leading social media and e-newsletter platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to marketing trends and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

high-priority fire science research needs that will enhance the decision-making ability of fire and fuels

managers, natural resource managers and others to meet their management objectives.
