Overview

Due to continued growth, ENERCON's Nuclear Service Group is seeking a Mid/Senior PRA Engineer to join the team based in our Kennesaw, GA, Naperville, IL, or Chattanooga, TN office location(s). For the right Senior Engineer candidate, remote will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support several major utility clients with various projects related to PRA modeling and risk-informed applications
  • Perform common PRA tasks including initiating events analysis, accident sequence analysis, success criteria, systems analysis, human reliability analysis, data analysis, quantification, and LERF analysis
  • Develop, update, or upgrade PRA models for light water reactor (LWR) and non-LWR nuclear power plants, including the existing fleet, advanced reactors, and small modular reactors (SMRs)
  • Maintain proficiency in risk assessment tools such as CAFTA, PRAQUANT, SYSIMP, and UNCERT
  • Use PRA quantitative results to identify important accident sequences, systems, and components
  • Utilize PRA as a basis for risk-informed decision making in support of plant design changes, technical specification changes, license amendment requests, or other risk-related applications
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the ASME / ANS PRA Standard, related NRC Regulatory Guides, and related NEI or EPRI guidance documents
  • Ensure projects are executed within planned scope, budget, and schedule
  • Build strong relationships with clients through professional interactions and communications, and through the development of quality engineering products
  • Identify and promote opportunities for PRA and related risk-informed application projects
  • Identify and promote training and industry interaction opportunities (e.g., owner’s groups, PRA workshops, industry meetings and conferences, professional society meetings)
  • Produce high-quality engineering deliverables in accordance with client and ENERCON quality assurance (QA) programs that are consistent with project work scopes and client expectations
  • Maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of industry codes and standards, safety culture, and design techniques suitable to the nuclear industry

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • For Mid minimum of 3 years of nuclear power experience including at least 2 years of PRA or risk-informed application experience
  • For Senior minimum of 7 years of nuclear power experience including at least 5 years of PRA or risk-informed application experience
  • Prefer fire modeling experience
  • A good understanding of Level 1 PRA tasks (e.g., initiating events analysis, accident sequence analysis, success criteria, systems analysis, human reliability analysis, data analysis, quantification, internal flooding), Level 2 PRA tasks (e.g., plant damage state analysis, containment event tree analysis, MAAP analysis, containment release binning, LERF analysis, containment safeguards system analysis), and external events (e.g., fire PRA, seismic PRA, high winds PRA, other external events) is desired
  • Experience with the EPRI Risk & Reliability (R&R) software and codes such as Phoenix Risk Architect suite (CAFTA, PRAQuant, UNCERT, SysImp, FRANX), FTREX, and HRA calculator
  • Familiarity with NRC governing codes and standards
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; Comfortable and effective communicator with team, clients, management, etc., choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message
  • Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
