The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the daily operations and activities of the payroll department, and the monitoring of all wage payments processes made to HFT employees to ensure that they are properly processed, recorded, and in compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws and requirements, as well as HFT organizational policies and procedures.  The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and performing audit and control procedures to ensure that all wages and taxes and deductions are accurate.
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for prioritizing workload to meet compliance and fiscal-year deadlines and to exercise judgment as to when to provide information requested and provide advice to the business to meet compliance.   The Payroll Supervisor is one of the Company’s subject matter experts with all payroll related matters.  The position is also responsible for maintaining payroll audits and controls and developing ad-hoc reports, as well as sustaining a well-trained payroll team capable of consistently providing outstanding customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the Company’s payroll, as well as the timely and accurate reconciliation of the Company’s payroll related taxes
  • Oversee Payroll staffs daily activities, provide direction and feedback, monitor and re-evaluate workload distribution, and adjust workload as necessary
  • Responsible for overseeing payroll tax compliance including current and upcoming regulations
  • Evaluate direct reports and provide periodic feedback on their development plans
  • Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs
  • Support the quarter, fiscal, and calendar year-end payroll operations
  • Monitor, maintain, and improve customer service effectiveness
  • Responsible for auditing quality control processes
  • Responsible for auditing monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting
  • Responsible for auditing garnishment processes and handling procedures
  • Responsible for auditing bank reconciliation including payroll cash account, bank statements to GL, and payroll stale-dated checks
  • Responsible for auditing and reporting Labor and Employment statistics surveys
  • Evaluate system changes to maintain compliance with all agencies
  • Accountable for ongoing management of effective relationship as a main point of contact for internal departments and external vendors
  • Interpret day-to-day business objectives and preparation/execution of operational practices/work programs
  • Manage many changing priorities while meeting mandatory deadlines
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes
  • Directs work within clear budgetary guidelines
  • Facilitate weekly (as required) team meetings
  • Cover for team members in back-up role for vacation and/or high-volume work efforts
  • Approve and release manual off-cycle check payments
  • Additional duties as assigned by management
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
