Team Lead Data Science and Engineering (m/f/d)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Data Team Leader to lead the development and implementation of data products in a cross-functional data team.  

As a Data Science and Engineering Team Lead, you will mentor and inspire a talented team of AI scientists and data engineers, review and guide their work, help develop roadmaps for the team, and be a role model for them. In close cooperation with the product management team, you will translate complex business and product requirements into actionable data-driven solutions that deliver measurable impact in production settings. This will include guiding the design, development, and operation of various statistical and machine-learning models in the areas of information retrieval and natural language processing. Moreover, you will drive the strategic direction of our AI initiatives by cultivating communication channels across all levels of the organization.

• Proven leadership experience in managing data teams
• Strong background in AI and machine learning concepts, with hands-on experience designing and implementing AI & data products
• In-depth understanding of modern natural language processing (NLP) and information retrieval methods like large language models and neural search
• In-depth knowledge of modern AI ecosystems, including deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), MLOps tools (Weights and Biases, Vertex AI)
• Experience designing large-scale data-intensive applications using OLAP systems (e.g., Postgres, BigQuery, Elastic Search, Snowflake) and streaming frameworks (Apache Beam, Spark, Databricks)
• Strong mathematical, statistical analysis, and general scientific problem-solving skills. Think strategically, but also stay on top of tactical execution
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex results to technical and non-technical stakeholders

      Nice to have:

• Ph.D. in Quantitative fields like Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Deep Learning or Statistics
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform 
• Background in computational linguistics or linguistics
• Demonstrated success in leveraging LLMs to develop innovative data products
