    Job Description

    Who we are:

Allwyn is a multi-national lottery operator with leading market positions in Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Our primary focus is lotteries, which help raise money for good causes. We drive innovation, efficiency, and responsible gaming. Allwyn North America is headquartered in Chicago. We currently operate the Illinois Lottery under a private management agreement while seeking other opportunities across the U.S. We also provide products and services to lotteries and their players in Europe and the U.S.

    About the Team:

Our Corporate Affairs team develops and implements strategic communications and public relations strategies, tools, and tactics to help raise awareness of the Lottery, promote winner stories, and showcase the Lottery’s contributions to special causes in Illinois. Our goal is to create a personal connection with the people of Illinois. Working as part of an integrated team of marketing, social media, and digital communications professionals, Corporate Affairs supports the company’s overarching objective to re-establish the Illinois Lottery as a leading brand within the state.

    Position Overview:

Within Allwyn North America, the Bid Writer will be responsible for developing high-quality, persuasive, and compliant proposals, tenders, and bids that reflect the company’s strategic objectives and brand voice. This role plays a key part in supporting Allwyn’s growth initiatives by translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives that drive successful outcomes. The Bid Writer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure submissions are accurate, engaging, and aligned with Allwyn’s business goals and standards of excellence.

    Responsibilities:

Proposal Content Drafting and Refinement Support:

    • Draft, edit, and refine assigned proposal sections, ensuring alignment with the overall proposal structure and compliance requirements.
    • Review, edit, and refine content drafted by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to enhance clarity, flow, and persuasive tone, ensuring the technical accuracy remains the responsibility of the SMEs.
    • Works to help translate the strategic direction, differentiators, and key themes for each pursuit into the final proposal content.
    • Apply advanced persuasive writing techniques to strengthen winning themes and argumentation throughout the assigned content.
    • May help draft content to complete proposal forms/administrative documentation required for bid submission.

    Content Library Support:

    • Provide ongoing support for the development and maintenance of bid content, with a focus on proficiency in Responsive (or similar) Content Management Software (CMS).
    • Draft new foundational content, such as ad hoc case studies and company narratives, for inclusion in the content library as needed.

    Bid Coordination Support:

    • Work closely with the Bid Manager to ensure assigned writing tasks and editing windows adhere to strict deadlines and proposal schedules.
    • Verify that the assigned written content is compliant with the RFP instructions before final compilation.
    • May provide administrative or documentation support as needed, including organizing files, maintaining draft version control, and assisting with final production steps.

    Additional Support:

    • May help draft and refine B2B/B2G content, such as conference presentations, op-ed articles, trade publication submissions, and other essential sales and marketing collateral, as assigned.

    Required:

3+ years of proven experience as a Bid Writer, Proposal Writer, or similar role in a competitive bidding or tendering environment. Demonstrated expertise in persuasive proposal writing and strategic content development, with an ability to craft compelling narratives that align with business objectives (experience in persuasive writing is highly valued over general technical writing). Direct, hands-on experience using Responsive (RFPIO) or similar proposal automation and content management tools. Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of tone, structure, and clarity. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality, and error-free deliverables. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and leadership. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

    Preferred:

    • Prior experience in the Lottery/gaming or Information Technology industries.
    • Professional certifications such as APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) are a plus.
    • Familiarity with formal bid methodologies (e.g., Shipley).

    Working for Allwyn North America:

Our goal is to offer an inclusive work environment – where people can bring their best selves, and do their best work, every day, for the benefit of good causes. While the main contribution of the Lottery to society is through the funds to good causes, at Allwyn, we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we have committed to an ambitious Social Value strategy, which is woven into the way we do business. We believe that lotteries must serve everyone, not just those who play. So, as an employee, a supplier, a retailer, or any of the stakeholders that we interact with, we will be supporting good causes. Our Values are embedded in the design of our organization and our plans to expand across North America. We Do What is Right: By acting with integrity, making brave decisions, taking accountability, and accepting responsibility. We Win Together: By working together as one team, always empowering our colleagues, valuing our differences, and respecting each other. We are always seeking opportunities to create business value while enjoying our work and having fun together. We Think Differently: By accepting feedback, listening to our peers, striving for improvement, and always daring to innovate. We always deliver with passion and have broad horizons. Moreover, we pledge to have the highest standards of respect, diversity, and inclusion, and support and encourage our partners to do the same. Allwyn North America is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, and other legally protected characteristics. Allwyn North America offers a competitive employee package designed to attract top talent. This is a 12-month contract position with a salary range of $75,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
