The Senior FTZ Operations Specialist is responsible for leading operational excellence and supporting Legal with compliance within the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). Additionally the Senior Specialist is responsible for establishing Foreign Distribution centers and centralizing foreign warehousing. This role serves as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor for FTZ activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs regulations and driving process improvements across the supply chain. The Senior Specialist collaborates cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners to support global trade operations, mentor junior team members, and lead audits, risk mitigation, and system enhancements.
Ensure full adherence to FTZ requirements and internal controls Own and optimize FTZ operational workflows, including inbound/outbound transactions, inventory transfers, and bonded storage procedures Conduct and lead FTZ audits, coordinate with customs brokers and regulatory agencies, and implement corrective actions as needed Analyze data and trends to identify process gaps, propose improvements, and track key performance indicators Represent FTZ operations in cross-functional initiatives with Logistics, Trade Compliance, Operations, and Finance teams Support training and development of FTZ team members; provide guidance on compliance best practices and system usage Lead or support the implementation of new tools or systems that enhance FTZ visibility, reporting, and operational efficiency Escalate high-impact issues to leadership and contribute to strategic decision-making to mitigate risk and ensure continuity Establish Foreign Distribution centers as well as centrally located foreign warehouses Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, or related field 6+ years of experience in FTZ operations, customs compliance, or international trade Expert knowledge of FTZ regulations, U.S. Customs laws (19 CFR), and CBP requirements Demonstrated success participating in audits, preparing corrective action plans, and process improvement initiatives Strong leadership presence with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and mentor others Advanced skills in ERP and inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), with a data-driven approach to problem-solving Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including experience engaging with regulatory bodies The starting pay range for this position is $84,000 to $101,000 per year however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
